While I was watching celebrity bowling at Lucky Strike here in Denver. Both Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper and Governor Bill Owens were there and I was able to chat with both. I told the Guv about a way to "own" the "BushasNaziFairnessinTeaching" issue that's been all the talk around the U.S., but particularly here in Colorado.
I suggested that he create a panel to try figure out some guidelines for teachers regarding free speech in the classroom, and suggested that he ask Mr. Bennish to help him. I said that if Mr. Bennish is responsive the Governor would look like a uniter, and if he is truly just an idealogue...well, at least the Governor tried to be reasonable and was rebuffed by a true far left idealogue. Either way the Gov looks like a peacemaker and true statesman.
His answer?
"I've got a meeting with him next week."
I knew I liked Governor Owens...
