Light Blogging today

Not really very bloggy today. Just thinking about my costume. I will post pics later. I'm not done blogging, but it's just a slow day.

Jaws kept me out of the water for years. Looks like we may need a re-release.

A thirteen-year-old girl lost her arm this morning in a shark attack off Kauai's north shore. Kauai county officials say the girl was bitten while surfing off Tunnels Beach around 7:35, local time, this morning. There was also a big chunk taken out of the girls surfboard. Bystanders helped pull the girl to shore and rescue crews treated her for shock at the scene. The victim was taken to Wilcox Memorial Hospital in critical condition. The ocean was crystal clear at the time of the attack. The shark was estimated to be about 12-feet in length. County officials say the beach area has been closed as a safety precaution and will be reopened tomorrow morning.

Yikers..I hope she recovers. This Makes me glad I live in landlocked Colorado.....sharks can't get you in Colorado...can they?

A man who allegedly has flashed female students outside a Catholic high school in Philadelphia got a little more than he bargained for yesterday. Police say the 25-year-old suspect would hide behind a van, wait for the students and then jump out and expose himself. Police say there had been several incidents over the past several weeks. Yesterday, more than 20 girls were waiting outside St. Maria Goretti's High School, and they chased down Rudy Susanto. A neighbor told the "Philadelphia Inquirer" that when they caught the man, they began to kick and punch him, so, quote, "I wasn't going to stop them." Susanto faces more than a dozen charges, including harassment, disorderly conduct, open lewdness and corrupting the morals of a minor.

and they call women the "weaker sex". I don't think so.

The Metro North commuter railroad may seek compensation from a New York City man who backed up service for thousands of people during Wednesday evening's rush hour when he accidentally dropped his cell phone in the toilet. Forty-one-year-old Edwin Gallert of the Bronx got his arm stuck in the toilet while trying to retrieve the phone. A Metro North spokesman says fire officials ultimately had to stop the train, dismantle parts of the bathroom and use a blow torch to extricate Gallert from the stainless steel commode. During the 90-minute rescue, many other trains had to be rerouted. Brucker says the mishap will end up costing thousands of dollars and repairs to the bathroom will take days. He says anyone who loses a cell phone anywhere on the railroad should alert a conductor for help.

Poor guy...Shouldn't have tried to get it back though. I'm sure a new phone would have cost less than a new toilet. Who'd want to use that cell phone anyway.

we need to trust THEIR judgement?

Umm....I just saw this on NewMax and I don't know why we stick with these people.

A senior U.N. Security Council diplomat has told NewsMax that, in effect, Kofi Annan’s decision to evacuate the U.N. center in Baghdad was no more than a political stunt.

The pullout by the U.N. only involves 16 people in Baghdad, who will leave for 6 weeks and go to Cyprus. 45 others in the northern city of Erbil will remain, so we asked, "With only 16 people left out of almost 300 before the attack in August, why the move to evacuate?”

We were told that this is no more than "political window dressing;" it is more PR than anything else. The Red Cross decision to evacuate their Baghdad center also could not be ignored by Annan.

Annan’s decision came after he held a meeting of his senior staff this week to discuss the U.N. special panel's findings on the Baghdad attack, released last week.

Outstanding job by the U.N.. Way to play politics with one of your members. You guys must be taking lessons from the Democrats.....Oh Wait....So THAT'S why the Dems like the U.N. so much. Now I get it.

It's been one of those days

Have you ever felt like everyone was climbing the ladder and you were going up the down escalator? Well that's how it feels for me today. I'm trying to get things done, but I just seem to be a half step behind. Oh well..just keep on chugging I guess. I just thought I'd let you all now.

Talking about Iraq

I was just listening to Sean Hannity and he reminded me of tape I saw on Fox News today regarding torture in Iraq. It was awful. The worst part for me was watching man after man tossed off of buildings. There were pictures of men getting limbs chopped off, including one man's head. For me this is just another validation for the United States to have gone into Iraq.

Yet a lot of people still believe the U.S. shouldn't have gone into Iraq. I wonder what those people think when they see those videos? I wonder if they sleep at night?

When hearses go bad

Traffic was brought to a standstill on a German highway when a hearse overturned and ejected the corpse that was inside it. A government official says the driver fell asleep and then yanked the steering wheel when he woke up. The coffin broke apart and a bag of nails was dumped out onto the road. While the hearse was not on the way to a funeral, it was transporting a body in the southern part of the country. The highway was closed for about an hour earlier this week and the driver was slightly hurt.

No word on the condition of the corpse.
