Obviously, when dealing with a scandal involving allegations and no charges or convictions, suspending the Head Coach, creating an independant panal to investigate the allegations, hiring one of the country's foremost experts on college athletics as the president's liason to the athletic department, isn't enough for the Governor and Attorney General....
Colorado Governor Bill Owens and Attorney General Ken Salazar are holding a joint press conference this afternoon at 2:30 to announce "significant steps" being taken regarding the situation at the Univesity of Colorado at Boulder. It is expected that a "special prosecutor" will be named to investigate the sex scandal at CU.
Unbelievable. I am really starting to believe that all the folks in Colorado who have harbored animosity to the University of Colorado are starting to pile on. It's unfortuate that Governor Owens, who spends his tuition check at Colorado State University and Attorney General Ken Salazar, a Colorado College, and University of Denver graduate, would add to the mess. It's sad because I have respected both men for the jobs they have done for Colorado.
I see that both are susceptable to the lure of politics, and I say, reluctantly, that I hope this backfires on both.
UPDATE: The special prosecuter will be...wait for it...Attorney General Ken Salazar. An interesting development. The elected officials in this state are putting themselves out on a very long limb.
