I've been blogging for awhile now, close to a year, and I still don't understand the fickle fingers of the blogosphere. I've always thought that getting people to read your posts was an important part of blogging. Maybe not the main point, but an important one. I enjoy getting comments. I enjoy people reading the things I post. They may not always be the most important items. They might be humorous instead of political, but I always try to make my posts interesting.
Or so I thought.
In the last month, visits have been dropping. After one big day of 1000 hits due to posting about the CU Recruiting Scandal, my visits have dropped like a stone. Am I just becoming boring? Irrelevant? I don't know, but whatever it is, I'm becoming about as popular as a skunk in a perfume store.
I need to rethink this whole blogging thing.
I'm not ready to give it up, but......
I need to find my voice again. I need to become interesting again. I need to feel relevant. Any input is always appreciated.
UPDATE: Whewwww that's better. Just getting an early start on my Easter egg decoration
I appreciate your voice. Please...carry on!

Maybe it has to do with the fact that new bloggers are entering a crowded and competitive field DAILY. In general, a blog site is like a retail store in that there are times when customers will be standing in line to buy from you, while at other times you can be waiting for hours to see even one customer. My blog doesn't get as much traffic as yours, but that's OK - at least it provides an outlet for my creativity. Keep up the good work - you have loyal fans out there.

Stick to the message! And thanks for your writing.

Yeah, it goes up & down. All you can do is keep posting regularly, and focus on making your commentary as original as possible. I also recommend submitting entries to link-fests like Carnival of the Vanities every week just to keep your name visible.

I checked your site meter. Your 698 visits for the week beats the hell out of my 520 - FOR THE MONTH.
I'm happy with my numbers so I guess its all relative.

If I needed a big audience to blog I would have given up a long time ago.

Blog readership seems to go in cycles for me. A down week or even two isn't necessarily out of the norm, and then things pick up tremendously. Aside from that, I'm not sure what the secret to success is, either. It's a tough sport, and I'm still trying to figure out the rules.

I don't know as I'd worry about it. I think we've all been seeing some drop-off in hit rates, based on some comments I've been seeing of late from our fellow bloggers across the political sphere.
