The man who created a staple of the athlete's diet has died. Power Bar creator Brian Maxwell died of an apparent heart attack on Friday. The 51-year-old died while at a San Anselmo, California post office. He and his wife Jennifer developed the Power Bar in their kitchen and sold the company to Nestle for a reported $375 million. He came up with the idea after cramps slowed him down during a marathon. Maxwell was once ranked the third-best marathoner in the world and coached UC Berkeley distance runners.
