An American hardline animal rights activist has been barred from Britain by Home Secretary David Blunkett.Dr Jerry Vlasak, a trauma surgeon, had been due to give a speech at a conference next month.
But he has been sent a letter by Mr Blunkett telling him he and his wife will not be allowed into the UK.
A Home Office spokesman said the letter was sent earlier this week.
"The Home Secretary has excluded Dr Jerry Vlasak and his wife Pamela on the grounds that their presence here would not be conducive to the public good," said the spokesman.
Dr Vlasak had already been warned he would not be welcome after reportedly saying millions of lives could be saved if a handful of vivisectionists were killed.

You want to be controversial, expect controversial reactions, including the refusal to be allowed outside the U.S..
