Talk about an overeaction....
Shoe glue is being banned in Rio de Janeiro because too many people are sniffing it. Brazilian legislators issued the shoe glue sales ban earlier this week in the crime ridden city, saying it's a strong narcotic that boosts crime levels and leads to moral degradation. The legislation is aimed at shoemakers for now but may eventually include permits being issued that are similar to medical prescriptions for vendors. Kids are often seen on the streets sniffing the stuff and authorities are waging a war against muggings that are often carried out by youth gangs.
I guess that in Brazil, it's justified to ruin a whole trade just to stop a few folks from getting high. What's next, sugar? Mardi Gras?
