The baby seal wandering San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf Sunday night is known to authorities and this is her third strike. She was taken to the Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito, which has picked her up twice before at Point Reyes, the first time on New Year's Day. The center's Jim Oswald says the seal, named "New Year," is seriously underweight and has become used to humans providing her with food. They'll fatten her up and release her again, but if she returns to shore, she may have to be sent to an aquarium.
I understand that you wanna try and keep them in the wild, but it seems pretty obvious that this seal's mom isn't around. Take her to the aquarium now. If they don't, she will be dead before the end of the year.
