The Food and Drug Administration is looking into claims that the popular erectile dysfunction drug Viagra may lead to blindness in some men. The theory is that Viagra may affect circulation to the optic nerve as it works by altering the flow of blood to key parts of the body. CBS News has learned that the FDA is currently examining 50 reported cases of vision loss and has started meeting with Pfizer, the drug's maker, to determine if the little blue pill needs a stronger warning label. In addition, the FDA says it's monitoring adverse event reports for the similar drugs in the same class as well.
It's only a problem for men who take Viagra by themselves. Other possible problems include excessive hair on the palms, as well as carpal tunnel syndrome...
