This made my day....
A former FBI official says he was the source called "Deep Throat" who leaked secrets about President Nixon's Watergate coverup to The Washington Post, Vanity Fair reported Tuesday.
W. Mark Felt, 91, who was second-in-command at the FBI in the early 1970s, kept the secret even from his family until 2002, when he confided to a friend that he had been Washington Post reporter Bob Woodward' s source, the magazine said.
"I'm the guy they used to call Deep Throat," he told lawyer John D. O'Connor, the author of the Vanity Fair article, the magazine said in a press release.
These two have been waiting for Mr. "Throat" to die so they could milk their last bit of fifteen minutes plus 30 years of fame. The two had been making the most of this as well, stringing everyone along until after the guy dies. And when their about to cash in on the final punchline, "Deep Throat" beats them to the punch and steals their thunder....thunder 31 years in the making.
Absolutely fabulous!!!
I would have loved to have been in the room when Woody and Bernie found out the news....probably off Drudge Report. Somewhere Nixon is laughing his ass off.
UPDATE: Official confirmation the Washington Post as seen on Metro Networks...
The "Washington Post" has confirmed that former FBI official W. Mark Felt was the "Deep Throat" informant who helped unravel the Watergate scandal in the 1970s. Post columnist Bob Woodward said the now 91-year old Felt helped the paper at a time of difficult relations between the Nixon administration and FBI higher ups. Woodward is one of the Post reporters who broke stories on major events in the Watergate scandal that led to the resignation of President Nixon in August of 1974. The Post confirmed Felt as "Deep Throat" after a Vanity Fair magazine report said the informant had admitted his role.
Well when the cat's out of the bag......
