The Detroit Zoo has changed the names of its two baby wolverines to smooth tensions with University of Michigan fans upset with their initial names. A Michigan State alumnus at the zoo named the pair "Sparty" and "Bucky," for the two main rivals of the Michigan Wolverines. Several Michigan alumni telephoned and e-mailed the zoo. They threatened to cancel their memberships unless the babies were renamed. Officials agreed to rename the wolverines "Tamarack" and "Talia," which are types of trees in Michigan. The two at the Detroit Zoo are the only baby wolverines born in captivity in North America so far this year.
What a bunch of babies...and I'm NOT talking about the wolverines. The zoo wants to have a little fun at U of M's expense. It's IRONIC, get it? Obviously these Michigan fans...who probably don't go to the zoo ever anyway...are way to uptight. I wish the zoo had stuck to their guns. Too Bad.
